Dr Julia Parsonson is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist, with over 10 years experience in the education and psychology sectors.
What makes Julia unique is her experience of working in both as a teacher in schools, and a psychologist in public sector and private sector psychology services. She has completed a multitude of educational and cognitive assessments and has worked closely with schools to implement strategies. Feedback is consistently positive around her ability to provide meaningful and relevant strategies that are easy to implement. Her experience has provided her with a unique perspective of the challenges of working in a school and understanding of how to best support teachers in their work.
After completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology she went on to train as a teacher (PGCE) and worked both as a full time teacher and relief teacher before embarking on a career as a psychologist. Julia transitioned from teaching to psychology in 2007, completing her Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology at University College, London (UCL) in 2011 and has been working as a psychologist ever since. Her work has been in both the public sector and private sector in the UK and here in Australia. Her passion is supporting the inclusion of all children and helping teachers and families to engage children in learning.
Julia is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA in Australia as well as a registered Meditation Teacher with Meditation Australia.
